OH HAI ERRYBODY! Its time for my 90 Day Body Overhaul: Week 5 Update. It has been a crazy week for me, complete with 50+ hours of work, fitting time in with a bunch of my fabulous friends and getting rear ended in Hollywood/slamming my head into my steering wheel (THAT was super fun), but I still made time to eat well and exercise. That, my friends, is what I call taking care of business.

I don’t have much to report on the diet front. I have been maintaining my main rules: drink loads of water, eat whole foods, keep it at around 1500 calories per day. And it is paying off in a major way. But, I do want to share with you my cheat meal of the week, because it was stupid epic. For those of you not fortunate enough to live in Los Angeles, I give you… UMAMI BURGER.
Seriously, the Truffle Burger at Umami is the best thing I’ve ever eaten. It is almost a religious experience. It is the REASON I allow myself cheat meals. Because frankly, a life without Umami is not worth living. The bun is perfectly toasted, the burger is so juicy it practically melts in your mouth, and the CHEESE… oh god, the cheese…
Ok, now that the food porn section of this post is done, back to our regularly scheduled programming.
Summer in LA means longer days, beautiful weather and my FAVORITE workout activity (aside from running, of course) – hiking! I LOVE to hike. The hikes here in LA offer challenging inclines, beautiful scenery and ridiculous views. Saturday morning, I met my lovely friend Brooke for a hike at Runyon Canyon in the Hollywood Hills. The weather was absolutely perfect – the day was so clear, you could see straight across to downtown LA.
Being in such a beautiful setting makes me feel like I’m not even working out. It’s a pure joy. But hiking burns some serious calories – According to SELF’s Calorie Calculator (which is based on weight), I burned 549 calories in an hour and 15 minutes of hiking. Done and DONE.
Well, that’s it for this week folks. This coming week is going to be awesome sauce – I have some great runs, hikes and workouts planned, and I am also going to attempt to cook a healthy/fancy meal (yea…. we’ll see how that goes). Until next week – stay EPIC!
