Q: What’s better than a zombie run 5K on a gorgeous Sunday morning?
A: A zombie run 5K on a gorgeous Sunday morning in VEGAS!
We took full advantage of the Sunday morning Las Vegas Zombie Run and road tripped to Vegas early Saturday morning. Packet pick-up was at a car dealership right off the strip and was very easy – we were in and out in 10 minutes or so. We got some yummy stuff in our goodie bags and the coolest race shirt ever (see above).
Now, to be perfectly honest, I’m not a huge fan of zombies – I don’t like horror movies, The Walking Dead or any of that stuff like Erin and Deanna are (I’m just a baby, I guess). Nevertheless, I had a great time and even managed to stay “alive” for more than half the race! As Erin told you guys, each runner wore a flag football-style belt. If you made it through the course with any of your flags left, you’ll finish “alive,” however, if the zombies take all of your flags… you’ll finish “undead.” The guys (Matt and Bill) managed to finish with their flags while the rest of us became UNDEAD.
Sunset Park was a beautiful place for the race. It was easy to get to, had plenty of parking, and running on a trail was a nice change from the usual pavement fun run. We made lots of new friends, got to party in Vegas (who needs sleep?) and had a great time getting chased by zombies 🙂
