Race Review: Las Vegas Strip Poker Run 5k [Guest Post]

From time to time, our schedules conflict and we can’t make it to a race we originally had planned. Fortunately for us, we’re in the process of assembling a band of epic runners around the country who are attending these races and taking copious mental notes.…

Lauren’s 2014 Resolutions and Goals

Happy New Year!

2014 Goals

Okay, I know I’m a little late on this one (it’s almost February… oops!) but can you believe it’s already 2014? In some ways it feels like 2013 flew by, but when I look back on all the amazing things we did (Erin and Deanna mentioned most of the epic adventures in their posts) it makes 2013 feel like two years in one!…

Featured Epic Runner - Reiley

Featured Epic Runner: Reiley G.

The great thing about interviewing Epic Runners is that sometimes we learn about races we didn’t even know about! Our newest Featured Epic Runner, Reiley G., has what is known as #BeastMode – he’s a regular at Spartan Race, Tough Mudder and through this feature, introduced us to the Budshido Race (although it’s only in Virginia…boooooo).…

Run It Out (Songs from Deanna’s Running Playlist)

Every time someone looks at my running playlist they give me a weird look. And I don’t blame them. That sh*t is RANDOM. My musical tastes resemble those of a squirrel with attention deficit disorder, and when I’m running, I like to get a little bit of everything in there.…

Race Review: XTERRA Boney Mountain Trail Run 6k

Given that 2014 is the year of the Trail Run, I figured I’d better be the one to review the XTERRA Boney Mountain Trail Run.

After a 6am wakeup call, a fruit bar with almond butter and some coffee, Deanna and I headed to Newbury Park (side note: we’ve been listening to the Family Guy version of Ke$ha’s “Timber” and it gets scarily stuck in one’s head, which is what we were doing before the beginning of the video below)

We parked at a town center about a mile from the start, picked up our shirts, bibs and timing chips and put the rest of our stuff back in Deanna’s car (I swear XTERRA has the best race shirts, I’m wearing mine now actually):

The line for the shuttle was EPICALLY shorter than it was at Spartan Race in 2012…ask us about that story sometime!…

Top 7 Race Costumes You Will See At Every Event

We at DoEpicRuns are 100% pro costume. We dress up at just about every race we attend. And we totally get that it can be hard to come up with original ideas for costumes (although we were pretty proud of the time we Rick-Rolled the Awesome 80’s Run) – there are only so many things to dress up as, and some are more popular than others.…

Race Review: Hot Chocolate Run

On March 24, 2013 the ladies of DoEpicRuns.com participated in the Hot Chocolate Run 15k (also known as America’s Sweetest Race!) in San Diego, CA. As you are well aware, we never turn down the opportunity for free food (…or food of any sort, for that matter), so we were particularly stoked for this event.…

Run, Bitch! (Songs from Erin’s Running Playlist)

Jesse Pinkman and I must be sole mates. (GET IT!?) Run, Bitch! has been the name of my running playlist pre-Breaking Bad. Because we know everyone is always looking for new jams to pump you up on those long miles, we thought we’d do some installments of our favorite songs.…

#Clean14 Recipe: Whole Wheat Fettuccine with Mushroom Sauce

Let #Clean14 commence! I found this amazing flax & chia pasta at Sprouts and bought two packages – one Whole Wheat and one Spinach. YUM. Since two of my 2014 resolutions are A) to follow more recipes and B) to use more fresh herbs in my cooking, I decided to tackle both, using some fresh basil I also purchased with FULL INTENTION of using it.…
